Where faith, learning and fun go hand in hand!
The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pre-school offers children a loving Catholic-Christian environment in which to learn and grow. Our curriculum is designed to make each child’s first school experience a successful and positive one. We want our children to feel safe and secure each and every day that they are in our care. We believe that each child is a unique individual with special talents and abilities.
Children must be the age of the program they are applying for on or before September 30th of the new school year. Children should also be potty-trained by the start of school.
The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pre-K 4 Year Old Program offers a thematically integrated curriculum in the subject areas of religion, language arts, science, social studies, technology, library, Spanish, music and art. The reading and mathematics curriculum present readiness skills essential in the preparation for Kindergarten.
Our rich learning environment consists of a Religion Center (activities correlate with the liturgical year), Block Center, Library Corner, Table Toys, Mathematics Center (experiences through the use of manipulatives), Listening/Viewing Center, Housekeeping Center and Computer Center (including iPads).
Our Pre-K 4-year-old’s visit the special area teachers in technology, library, music, physical education, Spanish and art once a week. Parent volunteers are encouraged to participate in these classes. Class trips are also planned throughout the school year.
The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pre-K 3 Year Old Program also offers a thematically integrated curriculum on a monthly basis according to holidays and seasons. Lessons are designed to introduce and reinforce various topics throughout the school year. Colors, shapes, numbers, and nursery rhymes are just some of the areas covered throughout the year.
Social skills like sharing and playing with others are part of the day to day experience. We practice good listening skills, learn how to follow directions and work on attention span. Fine and gross motor skills are employed during the year to prepare the child for further development in the Pre-K 4 Year Old Program. Our 3-year-old’s also attend weekly classes in art, physical education, Spanish, music and library. They also enjoy using iPads with many educational apps in their classroom!
