Athletics

The Academy students are very active in the many sports programs we offer after school, particularly Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, and Track and Field.

Volleyball is one of our main sports at the Academy with around thirty students participating each season. The girls season will take place in the Fall, while the boys season will begin in the Spring. Both girls and boys Volleyball is open to students from grades 4 through 8.

Cross Country is a smaller team of dedicated distance runners. Practices are held once a week after school and our athletes compete in about four meets in the Fall. Cross Country is open to all students in grades 3 to 8.

Our Basketball teams compete in the CYO league managed by our Parish. Games are primarily held on the weekends, with practices held in the evenings or after school during the week. Basketball is open to all students in grades 3 to 8.

Track and Field is another popular sport at The Academy with upwards of 70 students participating in some years. Practices are held once a week, and we participate in four or five meets which are held on the weekends in late April and throughout May. Track is open to all students in grades Kindergarten to 8.

We also offer other intramural sports at the Academy. These sports are played between other Academy students after school. In the past we have offered Futsal (Grades 5-8), Dek Hockey (Grades 3-8), Golf, and Soccer (Grades K-2 and Pre-K).

Note to our Parents:

Please let the coaches know if your child cannot attend a game or meet so that we can plan accordingly. You can call the office, send in a note, or email our Athletic Director, Mr. Gargiulo, at jgargiulo@theacademyolp.org . Thank you for your cooperation. GO PANTHERS!
